The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) received funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) which appropriated $5 billion to support the development and implementation of climate action plans to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) called the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program. This dual-phased program allows EPA to work in partnership with states, territories, local, and tribal officials to advance important goals in climate action planning and implementation.
Phase 1 - Planning Grants:
The IRA provided $250 million for eligible entities to develop climate action plans to reduce GHGs.
Phase 2 - Implementation Grants:
The IRA provided $4.6 billion for grants to implement measures from the GHG reduction plans developed with the planning grant funding.
To create a breath of fresh air for our beloved community. We're dedicated to fostering cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant neighborhoods, where everyone can enjoy the pure joy of clean air. With passion and determination, we work hand in hand with our neighbors, local businesses, and government agencies to ensure that Northeast Florida becomes a place where the air is fresh, and our environment thrives. Together, we're committed to a brighter future, one where clean air is a gift we can all share, and where our community can flourish, breathe easy, and smile.
The Jacksonville MSA was awarded $1 million in non-competitive planning grants through the CPRG Program. This program emphasizes the need for regional collaboration across the MSA.
With a mission aligning with that need, the City of Jacksonville was best suited to lead this 4-year project for the EPA's CPRG.
